Crowdfunding - Wirex X Crowdcube - FAQs

Crowdfunding

As you all know we have announced our amazing crowdfunding campaign with Crowdcube a little earlier in the day. If you haven’t yet seen our posts, you can check them out HERE, for the community forum and HERE, for the website.

We also wanted to share the FAQs for this endeavour right here, on the community forum. However, you can also find them on the registration page.

FAQS

As a reward for their loyalty and support, Wirex customers who have registered an interest will enjoy an exclusive 1 hour window to invest before the campaign is open to the public.

Who else has invested in Wirex?

Anyone apart from citizens of US, Canada, and Japan can invest.

What is equity crowdfunding?

Equity crowdfunding allows a large pool of people to back a business they believe in. When you invest in equity you buy a percentage or share of a business. You can read more about investing on the Crowdcube website.

What is Crowdcube?

Crowdcube is a crowdfunding platform that enables businesses to attract investment from professionals, venture capital firms and everyday people. They have facilitated crowdfunding rounds for Monzo, Revolut, Eden Project, BrewDog and more.

Why is Wirex crowdfunding?

It’s been a wild ride since Wirex was formed in 2014. 6 years, 6 global offices and 3m+ registered customers later, Wirex has grown beyond all expectation thanks to the loyalty and support of our dedicated and discerning customers around the world. What better way to show our gratitude than to give our fatithful Wirexers an opportunity to own part of the business they love? That way, anyone can be a part of the Wirex success story moving forwards.

How do I make a return on my investment?

A return is made via a liquidity event; for example, Wirex being acquired by another company or floating on the stock market at a higher value, or a secondary market transaction. Just remember that investing in a startup business carries significant risks, including illiquidity, lack of dividends, loss of your investment and dilution.

What exclusive rewards do investors get access to?

We will offer investors a range of exclusive rewards alongside the equity they receive for their investment. You can read more about these benefits on our Crowdcube page here.

What should I do now?

If you have already registered your interest above, make sure you sign up to Crowdcube as soon as possible. Don’t forget to tell your friends to do the same!

Can I invest cryptocurrency?

Unfortunately, CrowdCube doesn’t support cryptocurrency as a payment method. But, good news - your Wirex card can help you out here. All you need to do is:

  1. Download the Wirex app and verify your account (if you haven’t already)
  2. Exchange your crypto to your local currency and add funds to your Wirex card
  3. Use your Wirex card to invest on CrowdCube!

Can I invest as a company/legal entity?

Yes you can. When creating a Crowdcube, please insert the company name and type in the First and Last name fields. e.g. ABC Limited. Where Crowdcube ask for an address, please use the company’s registered address, and where Crowdcube ask for date of birth, please use the date of birth of the company’s director. Crowdcube will then be in touch for further documents as part of their AML and KYC check.
